Summer Signs I'm Still Not Used To

So, my third summer down here, and I saw the first of the fireworks booths on the roadside today. It still makes me look twice to see fireworks sold casually by the roadside-they were illegal to sell to consumers where I grew up...only people with licenses could have them.

It's town-to-town here. They're illegal to sell in Fremont, but legal to own. But in Union City and Newark, the next towns over, they're legal to sell. The Logan High sports department is funded mostly via fireworks sales.

It's always interesting to me...course I also grew up near Grucci Fireworks which I sometimes wonder how much they have to do with the illegality of it. (Not only has the family been involved in fireworks but they've been...influential, I suppose we can say, in local politics for many years.)
