Silly Karate Rant-y Type Thing Which is Really About Underwear

Workout was small (four people all together) tonight, but I worked really hard. And got kicked weirdly. And did a couple of bad roundhouse kicks that I landed against my partner's hand the wrong way, which means toes bend funny and that hurts.

But here's my silly rant...

My gi is white. Which means white panties underneath. Not that that part actually probably matters to anyone but me, but it just makes more sense to wear white panties under white pants instead of like, purple ones...at least according to what my Mom taught me. But the thing is, I gave up white panties around the same time I started menstruating. They're just incompatible it seems. So now I had to go and buy white panties cause I certainly didn't own any and I have to wear them. Ick.

I try very hard to avoid buying white anything. I just don't want to be bothered separating my laundry. Though I suppose that if I were washing a gi on a regular basis, I'd have something to wash whites with! :-)

Not white; nude. If you're going for invisibility, anyway. You can still see a white bra under a white t-shirt, fer instance. But a nude bra is practically invisible.

White panties are the devil.

I second [livejournal.com profile] melaniesue72... the lady at Vickie's taught me that. Sure enough, the nude stuff doesn't give that 'shine' you get with white under white sometimes.

I do TKD right now and did karate for many years before then. I am all about the white underwear, so no problem. When I did karate a lot of women wore non-padded biking pants for some reason underneath their Gis. At TKD, I notice women and men wearing all manner of underwear beneath their uniforms. I think after awhile you give up worrying about the see-throughness of the uniform. Anyway, the top covers a lot of the ass, so you have to look hard to notice.

Agreed. And light colored (light blue, lavender, etc) will also not show, at least under the Gis I used to wear. In fact I don't remember it showing under even with dark.

But really I doubt anyone carers, either.

I think the biker pants or dancer shorts might be a good compromise. Wear them over your underwear of choice and keep them only for karate.

I've seen people wearing black thongs. Also, my school is not air conditioned (and is also pretty not much heated), so we have summer uniforms. The summer uniforms are sort of like summer pajamas that I wore as a kid. By the end of class you can basically tell the color/pattern of anything you wear underneath. The tops also tend to fall open so far that it has to be pinned close.
