Poor Betakitty

Summer thunderstorms are a normal event. As is my watering the plants on the balcony. Often, Beta will keep me company while I do that, lounging on the balcony, eating the catgrass that I've planted for him and Oblivion. I hadn't gotten a chance to fertilize the plants over the weekend, and since the vegetables get fertilized weekly, I decided to do that this evening. As I'm out there, it begins to rain. Oblivion had already wandered into the house, but Beta was still out there, sort of curious, watching the rain but comfortable under the chair. Suddenly a large flash of lightning, and a tremendous thunderclap. Poor Beta leaps out from behind the chair, races into the house, ears flat against his head, clearly scared, and cowers under the bed.

He's still there, I've tried to coax him out, but he's quite scared. I've never seen him do this before, and I'm sort of amused, but I feel bad for him. I think I'll go talk to him a bit more and see if he'llc ome back out.

Poor Beta!! My birds know exactly how he feels. Thunderstorms are relatively uncommon in LA. Every time we have one they go on a heightened state of alert. Their own version of terror alert status level orange.

Hee! I feel sorry for him, but I'm laughing at him at the same time. Poor kitty!
