Feel free to kick me in the shins for saying this.
i had my tonsils out when i was, oh 8 or 9. i had some pretty serious ear/throat infections prior to that which required surgery, so they took out my tonsils and adenoids at the same time. now, i'm 27, and i get pneumonia on a yearly basis, bronchitis often 3-4x/year. the trouble is that when they took my tonsils out, they didn't scrape deep enough to remove them all the way. there's still a tiny sliver of tonsil tissue lining the top of my throat, but it's not like tonsils where it gets big and swollen - it just gets white and raw when i get sick.
i've heard that tonsilectomy surgery is harder on adults than it is on children. so i wouldn't be at all surprised to hear it wasn't as successful as it should have been.
i'm sorry if i'm doing nothing but being a downer, but as a fellow sufferer i thought it fitting to share the news.
