(no subject)

I woke up this morning with a sore throat. This is the first one I've had since the tonsils came out. In my morning haze however, my brain-process went sort of like this:"

Brain: "Please don't let this be tonsillitis again. Especially since you're leaving in the AM. When you get out of bed, call urgent care, maybe they can see you quickly today so you can make sure this isn't tonsillitis. Oh wait. No tonsils. Hrm. This sore throat feels different...not in the same place as before."

I don't care. It's a sore throat. And I want it to go away quickly.

I hope that it isn't your tonsils.

Have a safe and fun adventure!!

Quick cure: shot of strong liquor.

I've woken up with a sore throat every day this week, but at least I'm lucky enough to know what it is. (It's late August, is what it is.)

Gargle with a little diluted 50/50% solution of hydrogen peroxide. Usually does the trick in the wintertime when I get my November-December sore throats.

Feel free to kick me in the shins for saying this.

i had my tonsils out when i was, oh 8 or 9. i had some pretty serious ear/throat infections prior to that which required surgery, so they took out my tonsils and adenoids at the same time. now, i'm 27, and i get pneumonia on a yearly basis, bronchitis often 3-4x/year. the trouble is that when they took my tonsils out, they didn't scrape deep enough to remove them all the way. there's still a tiny sliver of tonsil tissue lining the top of my throat, but it's not like tonsils where it gets big and swollen - it just gets white and raw when i get sick.

i've heard that tonsilectomy surgery is harder on adults than it is on children. so i wouldn't be at all surprised to hear it wasn't as successful as it should have been.

i'm sorry if i'm doing nothing but being a downer, but as a fellow sufferer i thought it fitting to share the news.

my vote
