This is the first day that I've had nothing to do, no plans, no obligations, no visitors in weeks. Since before I went to visit my Mom for her birthday last month. I've spent the day in that odd sort of state of mind, the feeling that I need to be moving-it's almost uncomfortable to be so still. I woke up at ten or eleven, dosed on and off until one, and then spent two hours finishing the book I had been reading, and cuddling the cats. It was unbearably indulgent. Watched some movies this afternoon, and talked to my mom briefly about Thanksgiving plans. She's decided we're not going to Massachusetts, that we're going to stay home. (It got far too complicated apparently, with the need for a cat sitter, since her usual sitter, a student, will be gone for the holiday.) So we'll have a football filled holiday at home, Mom and I, and possibly my sister will spend it in the kitchen, cooking, and ducking back into the family room to watch bits of the various football games. I'll make the cheesy potatoes, and the stuffing, and probably some sort of dessert. Mom thinks we ought to buy apple pie. I disagree...it's so much nicer when it's homemade (even if my pie crusts are terrible. I might buy pie crust.) I should try and find some sort of chocolate dessert as well for my sister, although that might just end up being brownies. I'll try and get my sister to make the mashed potatoes (she did fabulous ones last year.)

Mom wants me to brave the stores with her to find a gift for Rachel's new baby...Mom hates shopping, this is going to be even worse than usual.

I'm fidgety again. I might go try and do something else.

I have your kitten.

He's hanging out under my hair right now, sort of sleepy. I spent a great deal of time cuddling him today in bed. He's incredibly demanding though.

And remarkably not bright.

He's also right next to me on the couch purring about. He just arrived a few hours ago, so no pics... yet. :)

Separation is the trick. Until they're used to each other, keep them apart.

I took something that smelled like Oblivion and something that smelled like Beta, and kept them in separate rooms unless I was there and could watch them. Oblivion spent the first week in my bedroom, mostly under the bed, unless the kitten was in there, cause he was small enough to get under the bed, but too small to get into it without help. So Oblivion stayed in the bedroom, but could smell Beta, and vice versa. She had food, water and her litter box in there, and I kept the door shut. After about a week, I left the door open when I wasn't home, but she stayed under the bed. She came out when she was ready, and while they're not best buddies, they get along. She'll spend a lot of time licking his face when he lets her, and they'll both cuddle with me in the bed. He's quite a bit younger than she is, and bigger, and sometimes gets too rough and she tells him so.
