For the parents, parent-like people and those who would like to be parents...

Here's what I said to [livejournal.com profile] rockstarbob about motherhood...

"Never in my life has there been anyone, including my husband who I'd share a toothbrush with. Until I had a kid, who loves it when I brush her teeth with my toothbrush.

That is what I've learned about motherhood. You put a piece of yourself outside your body, and it's there and it walks and talks and it uses your toothbrush."

She said it was beautiful. I'm not sure I agree. But it made me laugh.

Oh yes, totally. I saw it with my sisters how those boundaries just got stretched beyond belief with their children. It started with my eldest sister putting the pacifier in her mouth for some reason before she gave it to the babies. I was so surprised. I guess the kidlet really feels like an extension of yourself the first couple of years, like there is no physiological boundary. I haven't observed it from fathers, though.

Dude, after a kid vomits in your mouth/eye, it's no-holds-barred.
