I actually have no idea what colour Cream Soda is. I would have picked "orange" if that'd been a choice. Oh, I think I'm mistaking Cream Soda for Creamcicle or Orange Cream.
Why don't we just call it a coke and be done with it? :)
I grew up with that particular usage, too. It's considered "southern," though I'm a 5th gen Californian. When I was a kid, my favorite kind of coke was root beer, followed by Canada Dry ginger ale.
I would have picked orange too...but I've never had a cream soda, so I guess I don't know much.
I have this distinct memory of asking for a coke at a food counter when I was about 8 and then being confused when they didn't ask me what kind of coke I wanted. "But I wanted a Sprite...."
Ideally, it should be clear, but I don't mind caramel colored. When I was a kid, it was almost always blue, and it never occurred to me that it should be another color.
I recently discovered Henry Weinhard's, and though I find their root beer so-so (many of my friends swear by it, but I find it bland), their cream soda's wonderful.
i like weinhard's root beer well enough that when i used to go out there regularly, i'd usually bring some back. i'll have to try their cream soda when next i head that way.
I think you and I are describing the same colors, although I tend to think of iced tea as a bit darker than that. But okay. I'll count you in the caramel color.

Orange cream...that's another story.
But when you say you want a coke, what kind of coke do you want?

I don't believe in snowy-white vanilla ice cream either. Dammit people, vanilla beans are brown!
