Out of curiosity, Cayne and I have been talking about how much it would cost to fly to Rome.

A bit of poking at airline webstes, travelling on April 5 and returning on April 11, has returned flights ranging from $1247-$3764, without taxes and fees.

It hadn't actually registered at first that you were talking about fares for tomorrow. If you had more lead time, Travelocity's got several packages under $1200 each (and several more that are more expensive, of course) that include flight from Newark and 6 nights hotel. (You got me daydreaming too, so I had to go look. Heh.)

Ah, gotcha. I'm currently obsessing over vacations myself, it's probably affecting my reading skills. ;)

You'd probably be able to get to Rome for $600 or so from Newark in the off-season, if you plan ahead.

I think you'd have difficulty finding anywhere to stay when you got there - news sources are saying that the Roman authorities are putting up temporary facilities in sports stadia.
