Studio 60

Brief commentary:

I don't believe Amanda Peet as a network exec.

I do like Steven Weber, but that's nothing new. And give me more Timothy Busfield, who I've liked since Thirtysomething.

I totally don't believe her either. But then again, maybe that's just my sense of insecurity because she's younger than me but supposed to be way so much higher in any corporate ladder than I'll ever be. (perhaps in part due to my complete lack of interest and ability to compose a coherent sentence.)

But, heck, she's reasonably pretty and can pull off some fun lines, so I'll take her.

I've never been much for Steven Weber, but I totally agree on Timothy Busfield. (And I'm absolutely hot for Josh. Er, Bradley, er, whoever.)

And, frankly, I'm just so glad to have Aaron Sorkin back on tv...

I'm with you on all of the above. :)

For what it's worth, Amanda Peet's character is reportedly based on a real person who attained the equivalent position at CBS a few years ago despite being a perky young woman who a lot of people didn't quite believe as a network exec either. So to an extent, the unbelievableness is part of the point.

Also, I found her somewhat more tolerable in ep 2 than in the pilot. Mainly because she carried herself with quite a bit more confidence and self-assuredness in the press conference that opened the episode than I expected based on the stunned deer-in-the-headlights act she affected for most of the pilot.

As someone elese mentioned, I think she's based on a real person.

Part of the reason I both believe and love her character is because 1) I'd act like her if I were in the same position and 2) she bunks the stereotype.

I think that last part is why so many people are having issues with her character. She's a white female Issac Jaffee (see Sports Night).

Give it time. Let the series roll and let her continue to eat away at our preconcieved notions.

Try replacing Amanda Peet's face and voice with Allison Janney's. I find it works much better. :)
