geminigirlMy co-worker returned from visiting his boyfriend's family in Puerto Rico today. He brought me back gifts for me. For me, and not other people in the office, which was sweet and thoughtful. I got a small frog with a hat on, and a box of Puerto Rican candy type things. Unfortunately it seems that all the candies have coconut in quantities likely to make me ill, so those will get shared with whoever comes to visit and desires them. The frog is happily perched on top of my monitor here.
Frogs seem to be a theme, but I'm not sure why. There are now four frogs on my computer, with the addition of the one with the hat. I wear a ring on my right pinky with a frog on it. I do like them...I used to raise and release tadpoles as a kid too. I like the metamorphosis they undertake...more than once in the last few days I've talked about "the journey"-perhaps it's not about having a desired endpoint but simply about finding a path and finding one that you enjoy.
It hasn't been a horrible week at work...lots and lots of meetings scheduled. Ran a training last night for peer educators on presentation skills. Apparently I was complemented on it to the department head, who mentioned that he heard I did an excellent job on it. It was far more hastily thrown together than I'd have liked, but I had no idea that I was going to be the featured act, so I pulled a few exercises and activities out. Got a couple of callbacks from places I'm trying to get the program into, and made a contact at a site I'd given up on. I really owe the nurse at Loudoun JDC a huge thank you. She's fabulous...not only is she great to work with herself, but she's helped me hook up with a couple of new places, and she gave me Betakitty. A lot of meetings. I'm not looking forward to the workday on Friday. A meeting in Fair Lakes at 10 AM, then back to the office, then a meeting down near Ft. Belvoir at 1, then a group out in Herndon (right around the corner from my AM meeting) at 3:30. I won't be in my office much that day at all.
I am looking forward to my weekend. Fun and exciting things planned. I do wish it would hurry up and get here. And Monday off. Only two more days.
Now why can't I find the stupid lollipops I'm looking for? All I want is a super tootsie pop...grape flavored. Though alternatively, the raspberry or chocolate flavor would be fine.
