Weathered the storm last ngiht at
rdhdsnippet and
scherzoid's house. Much nicer to be with friends than alone. Took the kitties with me, and that was a loud and growly mess. Beta, who is usually so easygoing seemed freaked out by the other cats, and Oblivion, who isn't bothered by anything was absolutely freaking out last night. Coming home was an adventure. Rt. 1 south of the Beltway was (might still be) closed, so I came up Fairfax County Parkway...where almost all of the lights were out. Old Town is flooded.
Power came back just before 1 AM...woke me up, too because I'd apparently forgotten to turn off some of the lights after it went out last night. So what's a girl to do, but get up, catch up on livejournal and e-mail...you know the usual stuff. (And you can't beat coming home to an e-mail from someone wonderful that contains the subject line "Hey Goodlookin")
Still under a boil water order...not sure if things are actually contaminated, or if it's just a precaution, but I'll wait until they lift it to do dishes etc. (This wasn't exactly unexpected, and is the reason I ran the dishwasher the night before the storm.)
The silence in the building was amazing...it was nice to sit outside and look at the sky. I have beautiful sleeping cats. I made it through the storm unscathed, with two days off of work. And friends who are wonderful.
