I was an anti-porn feminist for a while. Then I realized that sometimes, for some people, there's an element of sexual empowerment in sex work, or in accessing ones sexuality via porn. For some women, it allows them more control of how they want to be sexual, or helps them to express elements of their sexuality that they may not be okay expressing otherwise. Certainly porn can be degrading to women, or harmful to them, but to generalize that all of it is, and to fail to recognize the positive influence it has on some women is only realizing half of what's going on. It can also be used by manipulative partners to negatively influence a woman and her sexual choices. I recognize that. I'd rather solve the underlying problems that perpetuate things like women not feeling like they can or should be sexual, not feeling in control of their sexuality, not being able to advocate for themselves in intimate relationships and so on, than fight what is a sometime expression of the problem.
I'm picky about my own choices in porn...I tend to prefer good writing with some hot sex thrown in, rather than out and out sex...I'm more likely to find a read erotic fiction than look at nudie pics. I like it, I own some, but I could sort of take it or leave it. I tend to read it for good stories rather than tittilation.
It's a mixed thing-sometimes it's good, and sometimes it's not.

And thanks for the complement.
