[livejournal.com profile] mactavish, this one's for you... Bill Nye live online tomorrow morning.

I feel like I haven't posted anything of substance here in a while. I've been very noisy on lj in some of my communities, but not in my personal journal. Ever since the emergency room trip a week and a half ago, I've been sort of the miserychick. And I don't like imposing my misery on other people, much. When I do it, I feel incredibly guilty about doing it.

Anyway...there was the emergency room trip-spent the day outdoors in DC, checking out the cherry blossoms, had the asthma attack from hell, and landed in the ER after about six hours of wheezing. It was dumb. And it sucked, Beavis.

There was also a visit from [livejournal.com profile] grendelgongon-he's a cutie. And so much fun. I had wonderful, fierce conversations with him...I loved it. I'm looking forward to him visiting again.

Work has been incredibly busy. I love what I do. Our website sucks, and is going to be redesigned, so after that, maybe I'll point you to it. We've gotten three new people in my department, one is part of my team, and is the opposite of the person originally in this position. He and I get along like brother and sister, teasing and joking and so on. Then there's the new Youth Prevention Specialist (which is my job) on the Orion team, (the glbt program) who I get along with really well-not like brother and sister. He and I are going shoe shopping tomorrow. And he's been asking me about the new guy he's seeing. Also had an intense and very personal conversation with him...I'm glad he felt comfortable telling me what he said; it means a lot to me-especially since he said it was something he hadn't told a lot of people in the office. I really do have a wonderful workplace.

Random other interestingness...a good friend is likely taking a teaching job back in NY. I've offered to guest lecture for her if she wanted, since I work in public health sorts of stuff. I'll miss her a great deal, but if she does in fact go forward with this and I get the opportunity to speak, it will be a great thing for me. And another friend is trying to find out about teaching opportunities online for me-she knows I teach, and do it well, and the added income would be nice. Both of the women in my life are fabulous...I'm spending part of next weekend with one at an event for American Brotherhood Weekend. I got my probationary performance evaluation this week...much better than I thought it would be, but it turns out that the identified weaknesses were pretty much the same from both my boss and I. I'm looking forward to upcoming things.

Now if only the pollen count would drop a bit...

I was proud of this-I was polite, and not too fresh or flaming.

And education is important.
