At today's staff meeting, one of the topics was smallpox. Simply put, we were told not to get a smallpox vaccination without notifying work first. It makes sense-we work with people with compromised immune systems and therefore because of the contagious potential with the vaccine, some precautions need to be taken.
And we weren't discouraged from getting the vaccination either.
One of the things we were talking about at the meeting was the possibility that they'll (the mysterious they) be looking for people to take the vaccination who can then turn around and do disaster-relief type stuff. And I don't have kids or family here who I'd be obligated to take care of; just the cats. It's something I could do...but how much risk would I be putting myself at? How much would I put people I care about at? Is it worth it in the end? Something I should do?
I'm mulling over these questions...not sure what makes sense.
