Apr. 22nd, 2004 04:40 pmI inch closer and closer to really losing it at work, and am ever more grateful that I'm departing.
Today, while I was out covering a program for another co-worker, in my inbox arrived an e-mail from our department head about job security, about how we're all aware that our grants are ending, and that he's got to make challenging decisioins and so on, but that none of us should worry too much, because he'll keep us aware of the whole process and so on, and not to cause unnecessary drama or lower staff morale by freaking out about it to other staff members, and that we'll address this more completely on Monday at our department meeting.
And included was of course "And lastly, it is unprofessional and disrespectful to use work time and work equipment to look for other jobs. Don't do it."
I'm tired of our department staff meetings which are really thinly disguised assigned time for said department head to complain about things that are going on.
I am looking forward to getting out. More than I'm willing to publically acknowledge. But much like my last relationship felt near the end, so does this. And I'm handling so much of it the same way...bottling up the larger part of what's going on, and what's bothering me.
Don't get me wrong-we do great stuff here. Sometimes the internal workings need some straightening out though.
