State of things...
Aug. 26th, 2005 12:58 pmWe weren't affected by Hurricane Katrina. We've had slightly heavier rain and the weather reports show a slightly higher than usual chance of rain, and there's been a bit more wind, but it's not unreasonable, and if there wasn't a hurricane hanging around, I'd have assumed just worse than usual storm and left it at that.
The water level in the lake behind us has risen a bit, but nothing serious.
I suspect there were some pressure changes in the air yesterday-Beta was clearly unhappy and nervous. He paced around for a while. The kittens seemed unaffected.
Speaking of the monsters...Beta is big, sweet and orange, as always. Gizmo and Widget are fascinated by his tail. Widget is bold and demanding. He often asks to be picked up and cuddled. I often tuck him into my shirt or overalls when I'm sitting on the couch-I joke that it's practice for attachement parenting. He's daring and wants to explore and get into things-this morning he got himself into a pillowcase, under the pillow...if I'd had the camera, I'd have sent it to Stuff on my Cat. He also farts more than any cat I've ever met. Gizmo is a funny cat, she likes to be pet and snuggled, but only on her terms. And she's a big fan of nose licking. She climbs up and snuggles and purrs and provides a good nose-grooming. They're both very short coated, and I haven't gotten them to tolerate much brushing yet, but that may be that the brushes we're using are a little sharp for the babies...Beta has a heavier coat. They like the play cubes we bought them. I really do have to find the cameras.
Other things...we're having connectivity issues with the cable modem. I've been having a horrible time trying to get them to figure out the problem and repair it. It took a week to just get the cable company to discover that it was a signal problem and take some action. We'll see what happens now; I've got a draft of a letter to them in another window.
Beyond that, things are quiet here. I don't hate the lake behind the apartment, where there is a pair of ducks, a blue heron, a few other birds I've yet to identify, and at least one large turtle.
We're looking at tickets to New York for Thanksgiving, and for Canada for Christmas.
I ought to do laundry and find clothes that don't make me feel gross in case we decide to go out tonight. And I wish
posthaste were around...
