Still Here. Not Dead Yet.

Yesterday Cayne greeted my with "Crude oil went up $4." I responded with "I think I'll fill my car up today."
That fill up cost me almost $30. Considering what I'd be making if I were working, it may not be the worst thing in the world...the cost of commuting would outweigh the benefits of working.
I'm overly emotional. Twice in the last few days, I've been reduced to tears by news stories about dogs who survived Hurricane Katrina...the first was one I saw on CNN, which included a dog who had a litter of puppies and who adopted two more not her own. Then, the Today Show had a story about a blind man's service dog who had been separated from him, and who was then rescued and reunited. I also fell apart watching "The Princess Diaries 2: A Royal Engagement" today, and some other random things that just make me weep.
I've been craving soda. I don't know why-I can't identify what quality of soda is what I'm actually after, the sweetness, the mouth-feel, or what. And other things-I keep craving waffles. I wish there was an Original Pancake House nearby.
I'm helping to watch a friend's dog this week...she's out of town and usually home with the dog during the day, and her husband is working the same crazy hours as mine, so when he can't get out, I can run over and spend some time with the dog. In exchange, I've got a cat sitter for our trip to Canada.
Tickets bought for Thanksgiving. Will purchase tickets for Christmas soon too.
