Way to spoil Father's Day, kiddo...
Jun. 20th, 2010 11:55 pmBoth of the girls have had runny noses for a few days, so the aspirator has gotten some extra use at night when they're having trouble sleeping. (During the day it's just a lot of extra nose wiping.)
Tonight, Cayne went into Naomi's room to suction her when she was crying because she couldn't have a soother in her mouth and breathe at the same time. And she looked at him and for the first time said to him "Papa hurt."
His heart broke. And so did mine, but quite likely not nearly as much. I just felt so awful for him. Though it was the first time she used the word "hurt" all by herself, unprompted.
Miri is amazing. She's rocking and trying to crawl. Not so fast please!
And I should tell you all about the "opapus" (octopus.)
Anyone who has known me for a while knows I hate hate hate tentacled things. They send me squirming. Naomi picked up an octopus bath toy today (part of a set that
aliki sent her when she was born) and showed it to me and asked what it was. And I told her "Octopus." So she handed me the "opapus" and told me about it. And we had to count the legs. And then she took the Beanie Baby that my mother had sent (reminiscent of the decapitated Peeps) and we counted the legs. And we talked about the grey octopus and she kept handing me these toys. Of course I can't sit there and be squirmy and squeamish or she'll assume that they're something to be afraid of or grossed out by, and I don't really want to transmit that message to her until she's also old enough to understand how silly my squeamishness is.
I was glad when she and Cayne and the "opapus" went to the store.
Tomorrow Miri has her physical therapy evaluation. I'm hoping that they decide that nothing needs to be done but I also want her head and neck to be okay so if it takes a little work, we'll do it.
