It is in fact Tussionex. I know the cough gets worse at night and when I lie down, so I'd asked him for something that would knock it out at night. Robitussin DM is fine for during the day, but the effects start to wear off quickly enough that it's a waste at night, and not really worth it when I'm lying down. The Vicodin should be making me sleepy though, and it's really not. I took it two and a half hours ago and I'm still up.
It's sludgy. I poured it into the medicine spoon that I had last night and it was nearly impossible to get out. I ended up just grabbing a regular measuring spoon tonight.
Even as a kid I hated liquid medications; I learned to swallow pills as soon as I could, because they tasted so vile. I even refused children's chewables because the taste was icky. (Mostly artifical cherry stuff-St. Joseph's asprin wasn't bad, it's orange flavored, and Dimetap is grape-I still take that for my ears.) This stuff isn't bad...it's palatable. Far more so than the really awful liquid Percocet that I had over the summer, which the pharmacist said "put it in the fridge-people say it kills the taste some that way." But the cough medicine looks sort of like sludgy Mountain Dew.
