My mom's been asking me frequently if I've been tested for AIDS yet. I'm not interested in trying to get into the whole explanation of HIV test, not an AIDS test and all that with my Mom. But I did ask why she wanted to know if I had been tested. Her answer?

"I don't know. It's just a today thing."

I told this story to roosterbear the other night. His response?

"It sounds like some kind of a tampon commercial."

BAH!

Your mom sounds a lot like mine does sometimes. Overall, you have to love them.

And I do. Even when the only way she can tell me not to worry is by telling me I'm a wimp or something.

I only hope if I ever get married/have kids/do all that stuff that I talk about, that I can be physically closer to my Mom than I am now. Six hours is kinda far.

I'm 5 hours (on a good drive) away from my mom, and that's about as close as I'm likely to get, unless mom decides to move from the hometown. (No jobs up there.)

It's better than cross country, I'll tell you that. But, I'd love to live in the same metro area as my mom. I think that would be utterly cool. Oh well.

We lived about 45 minutes from my Mom's parents when I was young, and about an hour and a half from my Dad's mom. My family was right there, for birthdays and holidays and weekends and what have you. I'd love to have that...not that I think I ever will.
