It's nice, but...
Jul. 11th, 2004 07:48 pmLast weekend, when
zedrikcayne was here, he very kindly put some dishes away for me. And I really and truly appreciate that he does things like that.
But I was putting dishes away today, and getting ready to make lunch for the next few days, and dinner, and found one of my metal mixing bowls in with pots and pans. And one of my pots put on the wrong side of the cabinet. And I'm still missing a glass measuring cup...I'm sure it's in the kitchen, I just don't know where.
It makes me glad that we're going to set up our next kitchen together...so that things will be where we both expect them to.

Date: 2004-07-12 06:13 am (UTC)But honestly, the time I was looking for my over-sized casserole dish, to find out that Flar had left it with his brother-in-law, whose wife returned it to my father-in-law, who sees Flar once a week for lunch,
And it still wasn't back in our house after three months!
Sigh. And yet, when he repaired the spice cabinet and had to empty it out, it was *his* idea to put things back in alphabetical order. It's stayed amazingly close to that, since then.
I've got Critter on dishwasher duty and put-away-hand-wash-dishes, so I made him make all the decisions the last time we reorganized the plastics cabinet.
And we lost all sense of organization to the Big Drawer of Everything ages ago.
I hope that when you set up a kitchen together with him, that it makes so much sense that you both naturully know where to replace things.

Date: 2004-07-12 07:27 pm (UTC)Once upon a time I dated a woman who lived in a household where:
- one housemate put the glass measuring cup in with the baking things because, well, it was for measuring.
- one housemate put the glass measuring cup in with the glasses because, well, it was glass.
- one housemate put the glass measuring cup in with the cups because, well, it was a cup.
