I'm a busy bee
Jul. 10th, 2006 05:43 pmI've been finally moving photos off of the memory card for the cameras...there are photos from last autumn, where the kittens were still babies, and from when Diane and I were in Disney World just before Thanksgiving, and so on. So, there will probably be some photo heavy posts in the next few days.

You can see more of them, here.
I had been thinking of painting the kitchen yellow, but I didn't care for the way it looked next to the grey counters. But the blue color I tried out looked really nice with the grey counters, and the weird colored floor, and the green color I'd picked for the sitting room, which doesn't have any division from the kitchen. So, brain trust, do you think blue is a good kitchen color, or just too weird?

Date: 2006-07-10 10:23 pm (UTC)The backyard is HUGE. We lucked out on that...the house is on a cul de sac, but it's a "corner" lot-it's sort of on the curve, so the lot is wedge shaped, with a small front but large back. It gives us plenty of room to do things like add a pool or a fourth bedroom if we wanted to.
There are gardenias in the front yard. I didn't photograph them, but they smell yummy.

Date: 2006-07-10 10:55 pm (UTC)My kitchen growing up was yellow. In my former house it was a sage green color. In this house it's off white over the counter (black formica) is deep purple there used to be a shit load of grapes around the top of the cabinets but I removed them. I want to paint the eating area a lime greenish color.
I'm so sick of the off white walls in every room in this house. A year is long enough to start deciding colors and painting don't ya think? We were in the house a year March 1.
If I could choose colors and get painting I would.

Date: 2006-07-10 11:04 pm (UTC)Cayne requested that we paint the mancave grey, but the color he chose is far too dark...it looks like wet concrete. In fact, I was almost wondering where the smell of concrete was. The pink and beige bedroom will be painted beige temporarily, because we're hoping that room will be the nursery soon, and we'll repaint it then.

Date: 2006-07-10 11:30 pm (UTC)Our kitchen was blue -- pale. I love blue, but I hated the kitchen in that shade. It just didn't work. I think if it had been more bold, I would have liked it?
Take a look at the price of replacing the countertops. I recall that MiniBoss redid hers, and as long as you aren't putting in granite, its incredibly reasonable -- like only a few hundred dollars. (She repainted her dark cabinetry to white and then put in soft blue flecked counters. Gorgeous!)
The house is beautiful. You did a great job!

Date: 2006-07-10 11:39 pm (UTC)There's a pool and a playground, and basketball courts within walking distance, too. And a short drive to the Farmer's Market, on Saturday.

Date: 2006-07-11 02:06 am (UTC)Wet Concrete. SOunds um depressing.
I like blue. I'm thinking of turquoise and french blue in the master but I'm unsure still.
Tatiana wants about 15 color in her room. She used to have a sky with clouds and grass and flowers and butterflies, dragon flies and lady bugs. I'm not redoing that but I would do something different.
I'd like to have a mural or something painted but I don't know what. Dilemmas Dilemmas.
Oh well.
Our nursery was pale yellow. The room was that color when we moved in and we just went for it. It stayed that way until I painted it for her "big girl room" when she turned two.
I wish she would just pick Purple or something like a normal kid. But no.
My mom wants pale green in her bedroom and bath. I want to do something fun in my office and the playroom. Who knows? Chris says in order to paint I need to have A) Money left over B) A Free Weekend and C) Me Healthy. So yeh we may be here forever without painting.
I love the mancave window. It looks like an awesome space.
