Induction involves a series of chemicals and hormones, all of which may start labor. May.

Once you start inducing, the doctors do constant monitoring. Its invasive. It limits your ability to walk and shift positions. You have to make progress at a specific rate, because since they can measure everything. Statistics dictate everything. Failure to make progress = c-section.

A c-section in the US is considered the safest way (mortality rate) to give birth.

Induction can also be more painful than going into labor naturally. So if you get induced, you most likely want an epidural. An epidural keeps you bed-bound.

Mobility is key for a vaginal birth. Labor is shorter, gravity is your friend when you can move.

That said, induction can be a great thing. The goal is to have a healthy mom and baby; you do what you need to do to get it, no questions asked.
