I had a massage the other day-was fantastic. It felt really good, and it was nice to be touched with no expectations, no pressure, no nothing. Not that my dear spouse is pushing for anything but there's this feeling like something else should eventually happen. I'm getting firmly reminded not to ignore sex or avoid it, because, "that's the first thing that dies in a relationship."

I do love that my spouse complements me, still. Yesterday he told me how good I looked in the shirt I was wearing. It's nice to still feel desired even though I usually feel exhausted and unfocused. Some days I'm surprised I can carry on an adult conversation.

I'm really lucky to have a spouse who is so willing to take the baby with him when he goes places, so that I get some time sans baby. I admit, I'm looking forward to the more regular schedule that happens for many babies at four to six months. It'll make it easier to get things done.

She's got two new tricks-pulling her soother out of her mouth and rolling onto her side. She's working really hard at the rolling over trick, even in her sleep. She's also much more vocal and her hands are becoming far more useful at grasping and pulling on things-a bib, a blanket, anything she can palm. Her cousins gave her a blanket with taggies on the edges (not a Taggies brand, but a knock off) and she loves it. It's great for holding, for pulling over her face, for scrunching up,and has different textures. Her hands are also making it into her mouth a lot more often.

She's months away from solid foods, but with the peaches and nectarines and such coming into season, I'm sort of thinking it might be nice to prep and freeze some while they're at their peak, since so many of the summer fruits are on the list of first foods. Anyone whose made baby food done this? Made food several months in advance of needing it and found that it was still a good choice when it was time to eat it? I need to prep more diapers, too-she's getting too big for some of the small ones, and

One of the recent baby gifts was a Target gift card...I'm thinking we'll put it away until it's time for a new car seat. It's hard to think about needing a new car seat, but she'll outgrow it soon enough and we'll need to put a new seat in the car. We'll put something like a Britax or a Radian in my car, where she usually rides, and something less expensive in Cayne's car where she will ride less frequently. If she keeps her current proportions-long in the torso, short legs, it will make car seats challenging...I'll need to make sure to find the ones with higher shoulder slots.

I cleaned the newborn stuff and the 0-3 stuff out of her drawer. She still fits a lot of the 0-3 stuff but it seemed to make more sense to keep it together. I need to get a decent bin for it and a couple of mothballs, and then I'll put it away for #2...because we're thinking about #2. ([livejournal.com profile] alibee if you're reading this, I put aside my newborn covers for you to borrow...please IM me about that though.) She's grown so much.

It amazes me-a year ago, I was still raw from the first failed Clomid cycle and convinced that I was never going to get pregnant, and now I'm thinking about a second baby. We'll start actively trying in the fall I think. We'll see what feels right and when Naomi is sleeping enough. I hope I'll be able to accept things if the universe only has Naomi for me, and I can't imagine loving another child as much as I love her. But then, I suppose you don't love them the same, you love them each uniquely. It's such a special place in my life to be. I'm so lucky.

Hmm, you might want to read up on it, and I'll double check my SuperFoods book, but I think fruits and veggies are only good for a month or so frozen. It sounds weird compared to frozen veggies we buy in the store though, so I'll definitely double check the book, but I definitely remember them saying a month for frozen for some reason.

We made apple sauce last fall (just cooked down, nothing added) and we were eating it last week. Just kept in in the freezer. Because it was picked at the right season, its much sweeter and tastier than anything on the store shelves.

Mom's suggestion is to freeze such things in ice cube trays, then dump into a larger bag so you can pull out small portions for tiny tummies. Jonah's still not eating any sort of large quantities of food (dinner last night including 12 Cheerios, 3 of which might have actually been swallowed, a few pieces of banana which he refused, and a large lettuce leaf which he shredded into pieces in a delighted fit.)

I've never made baby food from fresh fruit, but I do know that many fruits and veggies freeze well. http://counties.cce.cornell.edu/monroe/nutrition/freezingvegetables.pdf (Cornell Cooperative Extension) recommends blanching vegetables and preserving fruit in ascorbic acid. I sometimes blanch fruits, too, like peaches, so that I can peel them before freezing.
