We've used a few signs with Naomi for months. She's not much for signing, which is frustrating, but . In the last few days, she's started using the sign for "more" when she wants more of the cereal I'm eating (I've got a thing for dry cereal, and will often share it with her when I'm eating it.) What's funny is that even though we use "more" and "please" she'll sign "more" and say "pea."

I haven't had any today yet...I was eating cheese-but I have some of it next to me. Naomi walked over to me, grunted and then signed "eat more" and then said "pea" which is "please".

Interesting other fact...Naomi doesn't point much. We realized that neither one of us points very often either; we were both taught that it was rude, so it's not a habit we have. Naomi will walk over to something she wants, look at it and make noise until you pay attention, and then when you reach for whatever she's trying to get at, her noises change so that you know you're getting the right thing. This actually makes me laugh-my kid will stand in front of the refrigerator wanting her Fridge Farm, and sort of grunt at it until you get it for her, but won't point to it.

But she signed. She told me what she wanted. And I'm proud of her for it. Now if she would add more signs...
