To look with wonder
Nov. 26th, 2009 04:52 pmYesterday, it rained here...pretty much all day. That didn't stop Naomi and me from going to our usual Wednesday morning yoga class.
I packed us up, picked up our bags, got my shoes on and picked Naomi up, and we headed out the front door. Just outside the door, I set her down, still under the protection of the roof, so that she wouldn't get too wet as we headed for the car.
As I locked the door, she looked out at the walkway, took a few steps forward out from under the roof, and stopped. She held out both her hands, palms up, looked up at the sky, and said "Wow."
I cried for a minute. Because I want that awe, that wonder, that amazement at the simple things like rain.
She amazes me.
