Apr. 17th, 2003 08:13 amThey're opening a Target in my neighborhood...granted, it's not slated to open til October, but that's only six months away.
Also, for absolute kitty-torment...www.stitchguide.com has quicktime movies. I was watching one of the knitting ones, and Oblivion (the smarter cat) was captivated. She watched eagerly, as I played the movie over and over again, and batted at it with her paw. When it stopped, or when I hid the window she would sniff at the screen until I played it again.

Date: 2003-04-17 05:46 am (UTC)So cute. So naive.
The whole foods that was "Supposed to Open in 6 months" in my neighborhood took 2.5 YEARS... just in time for me to move

Re: Ikea
Date: 2003-04-17 09:27 am (UTC)It's not yet on the "opening soon" list at ikea-usa.com, but the stores that are there all say either May or "this summer." So I'd say late summer or early fall, right before the new catalogs come out. Even if the building is finished, it's got to take awhile to complete the interior, not to mention stock a store of that size.
I'm looking forward to it. I don't think it's really any closer to us than Woodbridge, but it's definitely a bit easier to get to.

Date: 2003-04-17 12:20 pm (UTC)Do you know where the old Service Merchandise was? It's over near where the Giant is-about a mile or so north of my place, but on the opposite side of the road. I can't remember the name of the side street-Southgate maybe? But I use it sometimes when I cut down the back way from Telegraph road.
And it's Target!
I knew they'd torn down the old building after the Golds Gym moved out (into where the Hechingers used to be) a couple of months back, and that a new building had gone up very very quickly, but couldn't figure out what it was. Then, this morning, I saw the sign that said "Target, Opening Oct. 12" or whatever it says. The important parts were "Target" and "October".
