I think living alone has made me really forget about my own needs for "alone time." I mean, if I live only with my cats I really do get plenty of that time, and probably less of the social time that I need.

Friday night we were communication-addled, and I ended up arriving quite late at [livejournal.com profile] aquariumgirl and [livejournal.com profile] john_5's house. [livejournal.com profile] quillon and [livejournal.com profile] roosterbear were already there. My late arrival meant that instead of eating at Savory, we ate at BD's Mongolian BBQ-it's a fantabulous place, except that it's all the way in Bethesda, so I don't go very often. Much hilarity ensued over dinner, and it was a warm and fuzzy thing. The boys and I headed back to my place, where we proceeded to catch up and cuddle and they managed to eat an entire pint of ice cream without me.

Saturday we got a late start, went for breakfast at the diner up the road (not a bad imitation of diners like the ones I used to frequent on Long Island) and got [livejournal.com profile] quillon shoes. Then home, painted my toenails, three showers, the arrival of [livejournal.com profile] aquariumgirl and we got out of the house only 15 minutes late. We crammed five adults into her car (Honda Civic) after we picked up [livejournal.com profile] scherzoid at work to head into the city for party #1 at Club Chaos. Dinner, drinks and drag queens...and more friends...[livejournal.com profile] bitty, [livejournal.com profile] bubblebabble and [livejournal.com profile] hfnuala were there. [livejournal.com profile] cz_unit joined us later, along with A., his wife. The five of us treked over to party #2, at the the Torpedo Factory Art Center for auctions and incredible desserts (yay for leftovers which will be in the office tomorrow) and dancing. And the opportunity to slow dance with [livejournal.com profile] aquariumgirl again too-reminiscent of how I met her, nearly six years ago at [livejournal.com profile] yesthattom's wedding. It was sweet. I was so wrapped in warm fuzzzies last night I can't begin to describe it. So much so that I disappeared into the ladies room and cried. And managed to not get my mascara to run too much.

My co-workers are used to [livejournal.com profile] aquariumgirl accompanying me to events. Despite knowing that I'm bisexual, they're really not used to seeing me with men. It was interesting to see how they responded to [livejournal.com profile] scherzoid being there. And even more so to say to the executive director "oh, you've met my girlfriend before, and this is my boyfriend."

Sunday I threw the boys out of the house so I could recharge. They went into the city, I stayed home to read, I baked a couple of loaves of bread (2 banana chocolate chip, one cinnamon) and just chilled out. It's been lovely. They're here now and I think I'm going to demand a backrub and some cuddling before bed. Tomorrow is a long day.

Among other things that I have meant to do and misplaced and/or stupidly forgotten is numbered responding to (and possibly accepting) your invitiation to yon Alexandria-based event.

I apologize. But I'm glad you had fun!

This reminds me that I had better respond to the invite to the wedding I have already bought plane tickets to attend.
