Huh. I thought that the "not buying presents for the 'baby' until it was born or very nearly so" thing was a jewish thing. Maybe it's just a "my paranoid family" thing. I'll buy generic pregnancy gifts early in term, but I can't buy baby specific stuff because it makes me feel like I'm jinxing things.
