For the West Coast-ers

Okay Bay Area friends...I depart for your way in about three weeks. Here's the thing...

I should be in the Bay Area the first week of September (exact dates TBD, but I'll arrive on 9/1 I think or 9/2.) I'm looking for help with two things:

volunteers to play tour guide since I've never been there before.

some help trying to coordinate a Foo of some sort to see people. I don't know one place from another, nor do I know the relative distance of things so I would be impossibly bad at planning anything.

If you're willing/able/interested in doing either of these things, please let me know. Addresses are available to you on my userinfo page, or the livejournal one works just fine too.

Also, if you're not interested/able to do either of those things, and would like to meet up while I'm out there, please tell me. That way I can make sure to have e-mail addresses and other contact information if needed.

I'm starting to get excited about this trip. And nervous...I've never done anything like this before.

do you like garlic? i mean really like it? if i was in sfo i'd take you but get someone to take you to the stinking rose. good food, they even have garlic ice cream. if you can't find anyone to take you, find a cabbie and go yourself. it's way fun :)

Darn, since I just got the job offer I will be back to work by then (ug).

Do have some really good breakfast places for you depending on where you are, and a really really good Italian resturant, its not cheap but god/goddess is it worth it.

That's the week before I restart teaching (after a week's break) so I have to watch my energy expenditure, but I can do a little visiting, and perhaps some driving around or showing around. What sorts of things are you interested in? Redwoods? Sex toy shops? Beaches? Culture? History?

I'm totally willing to play tourguide, albeit, with two little ones in tow, which might mean we go do one area and that's it for the day.

I'm also willing to host a foo either at our house or at an east bay venue.

We'd love to do Berkeley or SF with you. (San Leandro is, I fear, a little bit lacking in terms of interesting touristy stuff - but I can show you the library!)
