geminigirlSo I woke up on Monday morning with what felt like the beginnings of a migraine...the sharp throbbing in the particular point where my migraines tend to start. Figuring it was still early and I wasn't quite at the "lock me in a dark room" stage yet, I took some drugs, called my boss and went back to bed. By mid-day, the headache had spread, but not migraine like, instead more like the early stages of a cold. Unsurprising, considering I've been eating poorly, not sleeping well and generally doing too much in the last few weeks. Plus, I seem to get a lot more mild colds since the tonsils came out...they come, last for a day or two and then go away. My normal cold pattern is a few long lasting ones, these new, minor ones are new. I do not have time for a real cold right now. aquariumgirl came over, we ate some dinner and went to see "Love Actually" (totally worth seeing, good love stories, good ending, not contrite or sappy.) But it's also gotten very cold, and cold is one of my biggest asthma triggers...probably the biggest one of all for me. So I come in and it's late, and I'm kinda wheezy, and I know it's time to take a second dose of Serevent anyway. I do a peak flow, because I am wheezy, take the Serevent, and wait a while. Still no relief. Another peak flow reveals that the numbers are at about 80%-which theoretically according to my treatment plan (which I constantly ignore) means I'm supposed to call the advice nurses. Because I'm at 80%, I'm at the "be seen within 12 hours" range...thank goodness, no trip to urgent care tonight, since I'd have to go over to Falls Church, which is not nearby. (The advice nurse did say that if I got worse, they would try to get me in at the ER instead of making me trek all the way up to Falls Church.)
So this 12 hour thing-my doctor has no appointments within 12 hours. There are no NPs in tomorrow. Which means I'm to force fluids, monitor body temperature (it's slightly elevated) and a "wait for our call. If you don't hear from us by ten call us.") Ideally I just want to sleep.
