In a feat of silliness that may outweigh some of the others we've accomplished here in my office...

today is Mangina Day.

A. used the word in conversation with B. and me at lunch. B. admitted that the word just makes him giggle. B. and I walk into my office, talking, and giggling. B. reaches for the jar of lemondrops on my desk, and I turn to IB, and ask him "do you know what 'mangina' is?" He looks at me, confused and says "no." I turn to B. and ask him to explain what it means. He bursts into giggles and turns red, stammering and stumbling over the explanation. I turn to IB, and say "It's the asshole." This sends all three of us into giggles. B. wanders back to his office, and we go on with our stuff.

A few minutes later, A. walks in, and asks IB what a mangina is. IB looks confused-like he's not sure if he should answer it or not, blushes, giggles and points to his butt, and very quietly-almost inaudibly says "the asshole." I'm sitting sort of behind him when this is going on, A. is in the doorway, and the two of us just fall out giggling. I'm laughing so hard my eyes are tearing, A. is falling against the door frame. IB leaves for lunch, A. and I are giggling.

A. goes down the hall. A. wanders back to his office to check his voicemail, I go back to what I was doing. Shortly, B. wanders into my office for more candy. A. sticks his head out of his office and asks, "Did you leave me that voicemail?" I hadn't left him voicemail and neither had B. He starts playing the voicemail back for us. He'd gotten some phonespam about "If you like young pussy, dial 1-900...If you like Asian pussy dial 1-900..."

I think we've hit a new low here.

(And for those of you who have actually met co-workers of mine, it really is A., the department head and B. the coworker from down the hall.)

I think if I don't find a brownie today, something drastic will happen.

In an ideal world, it would be one of those brownies with frosting...maybe even the awful kind of frosting that you can peel off.

If I weren't waiting on a student, I might go and get one. I think it will have to wait til I get home.

I'm thinking, you know, all those terrible things that they say will happen in Good Omens. Yeah, like that.

These are days when I wish I had superpowers.

Rather randomly, and without knowing I was having an intense brownie need, my officemate brought me a box of chocolates when he returned from lunch. Wow. :)

And my other thought-

I've forgotten a little bit, what it was like to be a teenager and know absolutely everything, and be so certain of my own beliefs. I think I like being an adult better, even if it is harder.

Hey, friends...

Anyone who sells stuff (especially clothes) on e-bay, if you're willing to give me a hand with some stuff cause I haven't done it before, can you send me an e-mail? I've got some brand new, expensive shoes that don't fit and I'd like to get rid of them.

Okay, here's the deal...

[livejournal.com profile] aquariumgirl and I are arriving on Friday. We're returning home on Monday. That leaves us in Boston, Friday night, Saturday and Sunday. We will be at Arisia.

I don't know which parties we will be at. The party that some of you were expecting to see me at I may not be at. (Long story, won't get into it here. If you want the details I may disclose in e-mail. I may not.)

I don't have a room number.

If you're desiring to see me, since I can't guarantee internet access while I'm there, the best thing to do is swap cell numbers with me. I have no idea what activities/panels/social events I may attend, so I'm going to limit pre-existing committments. I'm really really really bad about answering my cell phone if I don't know who it's from. I'm much better with text messages, which are a good way to reach me, always. I'm also exceedingly lame about checking voicemail, so I advice against leaving it on my cell phone. Leaving it on the hotel phone is fine, but I have no idea what room we're in, so that's kind of a moot point.

So to summarize: Will be at Arisia. Don't know what I'm doing. If you want to see me/meet me, I will attempt to make it happen. I will make no promises, just efforts.

Badge name will not be geminigirl, it's the usual.

Any questions?
