Jul. 13th, 2004 09:39 amI was home yesterday with a nasty cold. The kind where you sneeze so much your nose starts to bleed-not from being chapped from being blown so many times, but from capillaries breaking from the force of sneezes.
So, I call my boss Sunday night and tell her I'm not coming in at my regular time on Monday, but I might be in later. I know there's a program scheduled for that day, and I let her know that if she wants me to meet her to do the program, I would. (It would have been a bad idea, but I had to offer.) When I did the summer calendars, I gave her copies, with all the sessions she has to run highlighted in bright blue. And when she made a change to the schedule because of her vacation, I printed a revised version of the calendar, highlighted everything she needed to do, and gave it to her. It's on the bulletin board in her office.
She called me yesterday, to ask me what time the program was. Despite it being right in front of her.
(Okay, I know. <lj user="melebeth is going to chime in here and tell me that my boss is a git. And she's not incorrect either, but I feel like I had to share the story.) And then there was the ambulance on the way to work today. He's in a left turn lane, and he has a left turn arrow. I'm trying to leave my neighborhood, I have a green, right turn arrow. I pull up to make my legal, right turn. Ambulance driver decides to make a very wide U-turn (u-turns are legal at this intersection.) One that lands him in the far right lane. He nearly hits me; I'm not moving at this point. And then, ambulance driver gives me the finger and blows his horn at me. For being where I was supposed to be to make a legal right turn, with a traffic light in my favor. And because today was the first day of summer school, there were school busses out in my neighborhood again. Don't get me started on the guy in front of me who drove right past a school bus with it's flashing red lights on, and the red stop sign thingy out, and the stick in front of it to tell the kids how far in front to cross. (The stick thingy is new to me-we didn't have that when I was growing up.) Gee, I'm cheery this morning. Maybe I'll stay away from posting until I'm in a better mood.
