My Mother, the nut...
Sep. 16th, 2004 03:57 pmMy mom called me this afternoon. She said, "I'm giving the phone to your father."
I'm confused. I don't know why she's asking this.
Dad gets on the line, "Hello
geminigirl. Your mother said to ask you what I need to take to the dentist."
Now I'm really confused. I ask my father why he's going to the dentist, and mentally run through any possible reason I'd know what he needs to take to the dentist.
In the background my mother says, "No, not what...who. Who are you supposed to take to the dentist."
My immediate response..."Oh, your llama!"
My father says, "My llama?"
My mother, in the background still, "Yes, see. I told you."
My parents then proceed to have a conversation about llamas and camels, and whether or not my father would have understood if she had originally asked him if he was taking a camel with him.
(Yes, Mom does know the difference between llamas and camels.)
This llama thing...it goes back to my childhood. Or adolescence anyway. The morning of my brother's Bar Mitzvah, my mother walked around the house singing Me and My Llama as we got ready for the event. I still sing it sometimes when I'm nervous...along with a song called Schlebutka Sam, about a cowboy.
I think maybe I need a CD with "Me and My Llama" for the morning of the wedding.
