Jun. 1st, 2006 05:27 pmHome inspection scheduled for next Tuesay afternoon. Waiting to hear if this guy does the termite and mold inspection or if there's someone else we need to call to do that. Also scheduled with the decorator for the same day(provided by the realtor as a perk) to help with paint choices for the space-with the high ceilings, plant shelves and open plan, I'm not sure exactly how to put the colors together, so she'll help with that, and make it look spiffy.
Did I mention that there are cows and horses nearby?
It's the first day of hurricane season, and it seems that the rainy season has finally started, too. We had quite a storm too.
I forgot to mail the Macy's bill, and realized last night it was due today. Oops. They use CheckFree to process payments, which means it takes several days, and the bank uses a similar system, so I decided the simplest thing to do would be to go over and pay it. Not a big deal, Macy's isn't far, and since I'm trying not to spend much money, it wasn't like I was going to shop for other things. So, I head off to Macy's, and decide I'll get a sandwich and a sweet tea on the way home. I pay the bill, get back in the car, and start to head home. The speediest route to Macy's is to get on the highway and go one exit up, and return home via the same route. Someone, however was intent on thwarting my plan. First, there was an accident on the right side of the road, almost immediately after getting back on the highway, forcing everyone to the left, and slowing traffic dramatically. Then, my exit was closed, due to another accident, forcing me to go futher down the highway, to turn around and head back. I did finally get my sandwich and sweet tea.
Sweet tea...ahhh. I will always be a New Yorker at heart. You'll never take that out of me, but after oh, ten-ish years of living in places that are below the Mason-Dixon line (which I speak of more as a cultural boundary than political one in this case) I've developed a different appreciation of "sweet tea"-which is different from the iced tea I grew up with. I love a good glass of iced tea in warm weather. I think a bagel with cream cheese, some sliced strawberries and a glass of sweet tea makes a marvelous breakfast. If only I could figure out how to make good sweet tea with Splenda...if anyone has any ideas, I'd love to hear. Then I could make yummy no caffeine sweet tea and drink lots of it.
Our realtor is a strange sort of guy, and may know of a proper job opening for me, too, working with a new centre for homeless LGBT youth. This could be very interesting, and I'm waiting to hear more from him about it.
I think I've found a way to spend my bn.com gift certificate, part of my birthday gifts from my Mom. Barnes and Noble's online site is having a buy two get the third free sale on DVDs...so I think I will indulge in guilty pleasure DVDs for spending time on the treadmill and treat myself to the first two seasons of "Different Strokes" and the first DVD of "The Facts of Life" which contains seasons one and two, for a total of three DVDs.
I ought to go look for paperwork for the mortgage guy, who we meet with tomorrow.
