Baby Watch 08, Day 4 (EDD+2)
Apr. 9th, 2008 11:59 pmI had an hour or two of regular contractions this morning...nice and far apart-ten or so minutes. I also had a terrible night last night, where i was up and fidgety and couldn't sleep and wandering aimlessly through the house. Things may be going somewhere.
Doctor's appointment today-nothing exciting. Maybe this weekend. I was offered the opportunity to induce Sunday night/Monday morning (cervidil Sunday night, Pitocin on Monday) and told that it was up to me-if I'm so miserable that I can't tolerate it, to call and they'll get me in. Not likely. He did say if I'm still pregnant next Wednesday he'll probably want to do a non-stress test just to make sure things are still going well.
The OB was surprised that I'm still in such a positive mood-I pointed out two things...this isn't going to go on more than another 12 days (that's the cut off at which the OB will really firmly insist on induction; he's uncomfortable going past 42 weeks, and I can accept that...at 42 weeks placental degradation becomes a real concern.) He does seem to think it's unlikely that I'll go to 42 weeks, but you never know. And the other reason? I'll never be pregnant as long as an elephant. For some reason when I say that, people laugh. But it's true.
There were three things that we declared "must get done" though, and two of them are finished-our taxes were done this morning, and the car seat was inspected this afternoon. The last of them...that's all on Cayne. We'd really like for the current project to be finished before the baby arrives. I'm waiting for him to give me the go-ahead to chow down on my pineapple (maybe for breakfast tomorrow) and hopefully that will spur things along.
I do think I'm going to go to bed earlier than usual though. More sleep is supposed to make for shorter labor. I'm all for that...so long as the labor actually starts soon. :)
