Aug. 6th, 2009 01:44 pmListening to Naomi talk to the bowl of vanilla pudding I gave her with lunch and watching her try to eat it with a fork is a moment I wouldn't trade or anything.
Last night, while we were at urgent care, she tried to say "Octopus"-the urgent care we went to (local Mommies-it's the After Hours Pediatrics in Altamonte Springs, at Maitland Ave and Orienta, right near Florida Hospital Altamonte) is decorated in an underwater theme...there are all these papier mache sea creatures. And I pointed at the octopus and said, "Naomi, do you see the octopus?" She smiled, pointed at it and said "Okapu."
So urgent care...
Yesterday, Naomi woke up with a little temperature-100.2 f/a little under 38c. I didn't really think much about it, gave her a teether and figured that it was a teething fever.
At naptime, she'd gone up to 102.7 f/a little over 39c. I gave her a little Motrin, called the pediatrician and let her sleep. She slept for a couple of hours, and she woke up with a temperature that was still just as high as when I'd put her to bed. She wasn't behaving in any unusual way...was more interested in sitting in the laundry basket, looking at books than anything else, but that's not so out of the ordinary that I was worried enough to call it lethargic or unusual. When Cayne got home though, her temperature was 104.7/just a hint over 40c. And at that point, we were headed off for Urgent Care.
One flu swab, one catheter, lots of tears. And nothing too exciting-just a virus. She seems to be feeling better today...not too interested in food but acting much more like herself, and much cooler. Going to take her temperature and put her down for a nap in a few minutes and see how she feels later.
