Naomi has begun to use the words cat and chat (My dear Frenglish speaking daughter) as well as the sign for cat.

She has also discovered that "Widget" is a word that we seem to use in place of "cat" as that's the cat who most often needs reminding about his behavior.

So suddenly all three of our cats are getting called "Wijahh" a lot. And we're often responding, "Yes, that's a cat-that cat is Beta" or something similar. Or "Oui, un chat. Le chat orange est Beta." Beta has even allowed her to pet him for a moment or two before moving well out of toddler reach.

Naomi also counted to four today. While she did this, she pointed at the dots on her shoes (each of her shoes has 5 dots on it.) She tried to count to six but left out the number 5. Then she counted her fingers. I don't think that she has a quantitative understanding yet (that the word 2 means 2 items) but it's a start.

She has also decided that anything with a beak says "quack quack quack" (which still sounds a little bit like "cock cock cock") and has begun to identify more pictures in books-for example, "hat" and "banana" are things she will turn to pictures of and point at.

Cayne gave her Ed Grimley hair last night, too, while he was washing her up after supper. I should have taken a photo but she wouldn't hold still. And she's got remnants of it this morning. I can really see the red highlights she's got today, too.

At the same time, I'm frustrated with Naomi...with the constant dumping of toys/throwing things on the floor-I can't have one of those kids who actually likes to pick things up and put them into containers? I'm also about to put bells on the cat doors in the gates we have so that we'll hear her going through the gate if we look away and she's trying to sneak through.

Miri is doing the things that babies normally do. Sleeping, peeing, trying to hold her head up and move her hands. We're having feeding issues (reflux and colic) which makes it a bit more difficult, but it will all be fine. She's asleep at the moment, Naomi is looking at a book and will go for a nap in a few minutes.

My parents will come visit us in about a month and I'm looking forward to it. I am sure they'll adore Miriam just as much as Naomi, even if Naomi is more fun

I need to make two more LJ posts soon...one serious and one funny. The serious one will take some time to compose. The amusing one...not so much. I might even squeeze it in before naptime.

Mom and Dad are planning to come down next month, but would also like to take a side trip to the Bahamas (Nassau/Paradise Island) or some other equally close, preferably tropical destination where my Mom can have some fun gambling (she likes to splurge every once in a while and play cards in the casino.)

Mom has asked me to try and plan this trip. Can you help?

ETA: Further conversation undicates that it may make more sense to go somewhere that doesn't require a passport-Mom thinks theirs may be expired. US VI maybe?
