Sep. 14th, 2010 07:10 pmWe just had a lovely three day vacation-of-sorts with my in-laws. The kids had a blast, Naomi spent a lot of time in the pool and playing with grandparents. I say "vacation of sorts" because we were really only an hour away from home at a vacation villa (one of the things about living here...cheap vacation villas during the off season.) We're looking at another one during the prime season, but we'll see what we can sort out. Naomi learned to say the word Grandpa and her Mammie couldn't stop telling us how beautiful she is. We all agree that Naomi doesn't look like either of us.
I'm currently worried about Miriam (who has lived up to the nickname Miri-Monster today.) Both of the girls had a sniffle/runny nose about ten days ago, it lasted maybe a day and a half or two days. Naomi was over it quickly, but it's gone into Miriam's lungs and caused a wet, loose sounding but not very productive cough. It's been keeping her awake and bothering her a lot...we had her at the pediatrician yesterday for a listen because she's been a little wheezy. The NP (who we try and avoid seeing, but the pediatrician himself was booked solid) heard a little something but decided that the best approach was cautious waiting and we'll see how she sounds next week. If she does get worse before then we'll bring her back.
Naomi continues to amuse me. Almost everything becomes a "spotting scope" right now. (I've let her watch Dora and Diego a bit and she's really picked up the spotting scope from Diego.) I'll pick up some kind of telescope type thing for her when I see one. But more than that is her refusal to identify her shoulders. We often sing the song "Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes" and she can identify every body part in the song....except her shoulders. When you ask where her shoulders are, she points to her toes and tells you "toes." Stubborn and cute she is.
