Naomi is carrying around a pumpkin bucket and refusing to give it up. She even took a nap with it. It's got a face on it and everything-we picked it up for Halloween today after a battle with her to put back the pumpkin she picked up at the pediatrician's office yesterday. She keeps putting things in the bucket and carrying it around, like her cup of water or her toy camera. She put her extra pacifiers in it at nap time and when nap was over she very carefully put them away and took her bucket with her.

We're trying to teach her to say "Trick or Treat" before Halloween. No idea if it will work, but it's fun to try.

She got an all clear on her lungs at the pediatrician yesterday. She's also learning to cough into her elbow...she doesn't always remember, but she tries some of the time. And if she sneezes and I hand her a tissue and say "clean" she'll wipe her face and hands. We're not at the "sneeze into a tissue or your elbow" stage yet-still working on that.

Miriam had her nine month check up yesterday. She weighs 19 lbs 3 0z or about 8.7 kilograms. She's about 28 inches or 71 centimeters tall. She still needs PT for her head, her lungs have cleared up after the torturous infection, and she's developing as a normal nine month old. We all anticipate that she'll be walking by about a year old...and then I'll have two very mobile children. And we don't need to go to the orthopedist for her hips yet-if she hasn't started bearing weight more evenly in the next three months, we'll go. (Which means that next week I'll make Naomi an appointment to get her elbows looked at and hopefully get an all clear. I did ask an OT friend of mine if she could think of anything that might help strengthen the elbows and she said that next time I saw her she'd show me some stuff to strengthen bicep and tricep with Naomi.)

I went to the needlepoint store (Needle Orts for the locals) to make sure I had a project for next week's Crafternoon. It's been a while since I've had a piece of needlework to work on and it was nice to experiment with colors to see what matched well and to see what worked and to sit and stitch for a while. I'm probably going to go back to one of the Saturday afternoon stitch ins again...I may even try to make it a semi-regular thing, though I don't think I'll be there all day the way some of the other people are. But it'll be nice to have a regular me-thing to do, and it'll be good to be able to get away for a bit.
