So, Saturday, Cayne and I go over to Target, to placate my mother and register for a handful of things, just in case anyone decides they need to give us an engagement gift. (I have my doubts about that happening all together, but that's another rant.)
We get there, we go to "Guest Services" and explain that we need to set up a registry, they hand us a scanner and send us on our way. No paperwork, no nothing. This seems weird to me, especially because I'd asked if there was anything we needed to do first.
We go, we find a few things we like, we zap the first one, and it's fine. We go to zap the second one, and nothing works. We try keying in the UPC...no go. Cayne ends up making three or four different trips back to guest services before we both go over there, at which point the woman working behind the counter realizes that we haven't done the appropriate paperwork, and sends us off to enter everything into the computer. So we do that, and finally get the half dozen or so things zapped, we pick up a few items that we need, Cayne gets in line, I go to return the scanner to guest services, and find out what to do next. The woman behind the counter is on the phone, sounding like it's a personal phone call, takes the scanner, returns it to the back, tells me there's nothing left to do, and sends me on my way. I join Cayne, we finish up at Target, and go on to the next thing we need to do.
Yesterday, I decide to check to see if the registry is online-it's much easier to send my Mom a link to it that way. Not there. I decide to wait another 24 hours, and check again. Today...still not there. I call the store, get the guest services people who tell me we need to come in and register again. (At least if this turns out to be the case, it was only a few items, not an entire gigantic registry.)
Just got off the phone with the store manager-considering how awful our experience was on Saturday, I'm not hoping for much, but I figure the person in charge needs to know what's going on.
And I'll find time for another Target trip this week, I guess.

Date: 2004-05-04 03:08 pm (UTC)Actually scratch William Sonoma - except for their sales it's possible to get nicer things for less elsewhere.
Sorry to hear of an ick experience.
Still on for lunch sometime in the next weeks?

Yes to lunch, probably not next week but the following week-I'll keep you posted.

Date: 2004-05-04 03:20 pm (UTC)If I can replicate what we registered for online, it'll likely save me a trip to Target (which is actually on my way home) but sometimes what's in the store doesn't match the online version.
