Birthday Foo?

I'm torn between Blue Iguana (in Fair Lakes) which I've never been to, and Sweetwater (which I really like and haven't been to in a while)-the one in Centreville.

Do other people have a preference for one over the other? I'd probably want to make a reservation at Sweetwater and would need to get a headcount...

(I know that fortryll and xilet said they were coming, along with hiranu and farion plus zedrikcayne and I...if I get don't get more definite yes answers, we might just scrap those choices and do Melting Pot instead...six is a good number to do that with.)

It's a bit of a hike for us, but I know that farion wanted to come along, and so we're heading out that way.

You're totally welcome to come along, and I'm sure you're the kind of person who will use good judgement about whether or not to bring the kid brigade. (Which is not to say I wouldn't welcome kids, I'm just not sure whether the places I'm thinking of are kid-friendly or not.)

And therin lies the rub--if I don't bring them along, I don't have anyone to watch them. And I'm fairly sure that the last thing you want at your natal celebration is a riveting tale of the day's water activities and potty training updates. ;)

Next time you're up, though, I'll happily inflict them on you!

I don't feel unwelcome at all; I just know that there's an appropriate time and place for introducing the kids to new people. ;) Trust me, it's nothing you've said--it's all my dratted Deep South upbringing.

But let me know when you'll be around, and we can definitely get together sometime. If you're ever up in Reston around lunch, I always love having soemone to nosh with.

The Blue Iguana is pretty good. (Of course I lived right across the street from it and it still took me three years to get there.) They've got their current menu online at their site; it looks like they've changed it since I was last there.

I'm still coughing and stuffy, so I'm not sure if I'm truly fit for inflicting myself on anyone quite yet.
