Stuff I should do besides packing in October:

Actually get around to doing our wedding webpage (more on that in a minute)

Go to my parents for a couple of days and do random wedding stuff that needs to get done. (Again, more on that in a minute)

See people who I haven't seen in a while like vvalkyri and kelfire and stuff.

The more on that part:

We got engaged in February. We set a wedding date in May. Totally reasonable. May to next June gave us about thirteen months to do stuff. We're down to about nine and not much has been done...for a lot of reasons. (One of the biggest ones being that much of it needs to be done at or near my parents place and travelling from here to there between Memorial Day and Labor Day is just really not fun, and is something I avoid as much as I possibly can. And my mother is remarkably understanding about this, which helps. There have been times that it's taken me twice as long to get there between Memorial Day and Labor Day as it has on non-holiday, non-summer weekends.) I'm feeling the stress of not having anything done. And I know it will all happen shortly, it's just bothersome.

So...since I've been lame and not put anything together for our webpage, other than deciding what we want, and having most of the links compiled...and since I haven't really built a webpage from the ground up in years (although I have updated and kept current several webpages) what resources would you recommend? I have no editing software other than Front Page now (which I'd rather not use) and no books. So I'm all yours...

This week is terrible for me, but do you have time next week to meet up to hand off boxes? So long as it's sometime next week or later, whenever works for you should be okay for me.

Probably can next week. I'm not sure what my schedule actually looks like, but I'll keep you posted.

Alternatively-how far from Reston are you? I'm going to be there Saturday afternoon I think.

Depends on where in Reston, but I'd say 6-10 miles max (headed south on Fairfax County Parkway). I'll drop a note with exact location.

I don't remember exactly where in Reston, but if you're around Saturday, we have an event in Reston to be at from 4 to 7 PM and will almost certainly travel either there or back on FFX Cty Parkway, since I live near the south end of it. If you're off the parkway-ish, then maybe Saturday would work?

Thirteen months isn't unreasonable. We got engaged Feb 2003 and were married June 2004 which gave me fourteen months to plan and pay for the entire wedding on my own. I lived 90 minutes from our wedding site. My parents live overseas in China.

For our wedding webpage, I used Macromedia Dreamweaver as a software to help me construct the site. I used www.dreamhost.com to host it and registered through them as well. I didn't have any problems in the one year subscription I purchased.

Oh, and if you need tips and advice on where to get stuff, vendors, etc. get the book Bridal Bargains or holler in my LJ. I forget where you are getting married again

Let me see if Cayne's got the webspace set up for it yet. If not, I'm not sure where we want to put it. But if we can find a place for it, I think it's a great idea. Unless we want to rent another movie.


Can I ask you to try and get some decent photos of us next time we manage to see you...I don't know if we have any nice ones to use on the page? And also, I want to use the background from the soc.couples.wedding page if that's okay.

I actually inherited a copy of Bridal Bargains. The wedding is out on Long Island, near my parents home. We'll be settling somewhere in New Jersey, probably in the northern part, soon.

(Your engagement was almost identical to mine...I got engaged about two weeks earlier than you)

I still need to find a rabbi who will do an interfaith marriage, and a litany of other things.
