Warning: Incredibly brutal, but really amazing domestic violence PSAs. They're hard to watch, and they may contain unpleasant triggers for some people. I had a hard time watching them...

Date: 2004-10-26 04:08 am (UTC)Some feel that "children might get the wrong message" and think it's cool to be abusive. I can't even see how that is in any way a persuasive reason to leave it off primetime networks.
It was so much scarier, to tell you the truth, to hear it on the radio today. I actually pulled over to finish listening to the end of the PSA. Her bloodcurdling scream.. .it was frightening, listening to it, not seeing the visual.. Anyway.

I don't see it as giving kids the message that it's okay, but I could see in a vacuum (nobody explaining) perhaps it being just another behavior to emulate.
More to the point, though, it's shocking for a reason, and growing up in a home around abuse is damaging to a child, and I can see not wanting scenes like that when young children might see them.
