Saturday morning, Cayne woke up complaining more than usual of back pain. He's been uncomfortable since we started moving, and since we're still rearranging and schlepping boxes, he hasn't really been able to recover. I had suggested repeatedly an appointment with Dr. Reti, the chiropractor, but hadn't made him one. So Saturday morning, when he told me how uncomfortable he was ("I'm sorry, no nookie this morning, I hurt too much," I said to him "Doesn't Dr. Reti have Saturday hours? Let's call and get you an appointment for next week." By nine AM we had a ten thirty appointment for Cayne. Ten thirty on Saturday. We showered and dressed quickly, and headed over to to the chiropractor. As Cayne was being worked on, we decided that I should make an appointment for next week. We stopped at the receptionists desk to do so, and make Cayne's follow up appointment and she suggested that I fill out all the new patient paperwork while I was there and relaxed instead of on Monday. Dr. Reti saw me doing this, and said that he might as well check me out right away. Wow. He did so...and commented that someone put a walnut in my shoulder (found the two tender points almost right away) and I pointed out that it wans't even the most painful part. So I showed him where it was. He moved my shoulder around a bit, checked out my neck (though he wants MRIs) and is concerned about the everpresent clicking in my neck and shoulder (in my shoulder, possibly rotator cuff damage, potentially enough damage to the mechanics of my shoulder, whether it's bone or soft tissue) to require surgery, but that's TBD later, when I'm not having insurance issues. Then he put me on the traction machine and pulled on my head. His traction table has a back roller. Call me odd if you like, but the head traction nearly gives me orgasms on its own (I've had it at the physical therapists office) and combine that with the back roller, I was ready to pounce Cayne right there. (I didn't.) A few manipulations later and I couldn't believe how much better I felt. (Apparently I adjust easily. Unfortunately, I wonder if that means taht I slip back easily too.) Unfortunately, the doctor wants to see me at least four more times in the next ten days. We go back at 8:30 Monday. Cayne touched my back last night, and touched a spot that I usually jump and wince from-when the doctor was checking them out I was nearly in tears from the pain. He said "Your back doesn't feel like a bridge cable anymore. I can touch you and you're not screaming." Yay.

We rounded out the day with another doctor visit for Cayne's knees, lunch, and some shopping-holiday and grocery. Came home, did housework and bed. Sunday was handbells, then lunch and some visiting and home...we intended to do housework but got home and decided we needed to relax on the couch more than do more work. I threw together some dinner, we ate, and rested. The aliens are beginning to invade me (cramps galore) so I'm trying to relax...I'll take something for them in a bit. Cayne's been wonderful, helping to do dishes and clean up, and even making the bed up without me. He even brought me tea. I think I'm heading to bed soon.

When I first read this, for some reason I was processing Dr. Reti as Dr. Phil, and I was seriously scared. :)

Glad you feel better. I have never gone to a chiropractor. I have been told I should by my regular physician but I am freaked out about it. When did you start going to one?
