I just got my candidate submission letter for the Alexandria Police Department's Citizens' Police Academy. I went through the academy a few years ago, and that allows me to nominate candidates for the academy. It's a 10-ish week program (this year the spring session is going from March 16 to May 18) at the police headquarters in Alexandria (off Eisenhower Ave.)
The program is interesting-it allows you to get to know better all the different functions of the department, what they do, how they do it, and lots of other stuff. I had a lot of fun when I did it.
It's free. And they usually provide you with dinner, since it happens in the evening.
If you're a resident of Alexandria and are interested, or you know someone who is an Alexandria resident, who might be interested, let me know and I'll nominate you/the person you suggest.
If you want more information, let me know, and I'll be happy to provide it.
