My older (half)sister hasn't yet responded to the wedding invitation.

Cayne's older sister just called us and told us she was refused entry into the US, and therefore can't come to the wedding.

Oh that stinks. Did they give Cayne's sister a reason? Is there anyway she can appeal the decision?

Violation of probation. Which means she was on probation at some point as an adult (which we didn't know-we knew she had a juvenille record) and got into some additional trouble.

She can appeal it, but it takes more than the two weeks we have until the wedding.

Is it that she was denied entrance because she violated her probation, or that leaving her country would violate her probation (like how parollees here aren't supposed to cross state lines)?

Cayne says "Because she violated probation she has a record, and that's why she's not allowed in the country." Apparently whatever she did was a felony...but all we know about is what's on her juvenille record.

That sucks. But there's really nothing you can do about his sister's issue, so try not to spend time fretting over it. And you can't really do much about your sister either, short of calling her to make sure that she received the invitation, and asking her if she's coming. On the day that you get married, you will be thinking about how much you love each other, and the special commitment you are making to each other, and although it would be wonderful to have everyone there to witness this moment, the only two crucial people are you and Cayne. Try to focus on the positive. I completely understand wedding stress, and I'm trying to take my own advice, too! :)

You're absolutely right. But it's one of those things where this behavior bothers us because of the histry. My sister, for example has done her best to avoid contact with the family except for things like funerals. I haven't seen her husband in about fifteen years nor met her children-even though they live twenty minutes from my parents house, where I lived through high school and again during graduate school. And Cayne's got similar things going on-where we looked at each other after she called us and told us, and said "Do you think she really did get denied entry?" It's bad enough that we had reason to ask if she were telling the truth...
