So upset-

Three out of four of Cayne's groomsmen have been mostly fabulous. Including my brother. Then we get to the fourth one...

The one who can't manage to get it together enough to deal with a hotel room, so we said, "Oh, stay with Cayne the night before."

And who then today tells Cayne that his partner has objected to the twelve hour car ride, and putting 2000 km on the car, so he's going to take the bus, and she's not coming (even though we've already given the final headcount and paid for everything etc.) This taking the bus thing means a 12-14 hour bus ride for him, plus an hour and a half to two hours on the train out from NYC to my Mom's. And then finding his way from the train station to my Mom's. And oh, not having a ride from the reception back to the train station to get back to NYC to get back on a bus.

Presuming of course that he doesn't miss the bus on the way down...

Because his partner has JUST NOW decided she can't deal with a 12 hour car ride? Um, HELLO BITCH, maybe think of that on a day not so damn close to the wedding? Huh? Gah, sorry, I get irritated with people who pull shit like that.

That's really awful of her! Are they always like this?
It would definitely set me off.

Y'all seem mighty sure that this is partner's doing, not groomsman's. Id be suspicious that he sprung the whole thing on her at the last minute and sabotaged the deal, using her as an excuse. Anyway, a non-lethal but terribly irritating pox on whomever is responsible.

Sheesh. I do wonder whether you're getting the whole story there, but.

I also wonder if you're getting the whole story. As it appears he's been difficult all around, I suspect it it *he* who is upset about the 12 hour bus ride, and not neccesarily the gf.

Uhhh yeah... if you couldn't you know, swing by and pick me up in Albany beforehand... yeah... that would be great.

*grin*

(I hope I did justice to Office Space there.)

If it makes you feel any better, I'll share some of the horror stories relating to guest cancellations that occured at mine. Mind you, we had a very small wedding, we only invited 120 people and 90 RSVPed "yes".

10 people didn't show up.

1 called the day before to say that him and girlfriend broke up the week before, so they're both not coming because they're not in the mood.

2 cancelled two days before wedding because of family emergency-- didn't specify.

1 said the pollen was too bad and aggravated her allergies, so she didn't want to come (+ guest).

2 just didn't give an explanation.

My best friend (and maid-of-honor) cancelled on me two months before the wedding to let me know she'd taken a new job and was going to be "busy at work". She later confessed that the specific day we got married, she was at home watching TV, wishing she was at my wedding.

So in summary, we paid for $600 of food that nobody ate.
