Apparently my desire for brownies and pickles (which was, by the way, delicious) piqued the curiosity of several readers about the state of my uterus. I do promise that when the time is right, I will provide the information regarding that. I happen to like the combination of sweet and salty things sometimes, and have been known to throw a handful of M&M's into popcorn. When I asked [livejournal.com profile] vvalkyri if mentioning that combination would have prompted the same question, and she told me know. But, the response to that one little comment, about pickles and brownies has inspired the poll which follows.

(Note: For purposes of this poll please assume that "pickle" refers to a cucumber-based pickle, and not pickled vegetables in general.)

OK, someone had to say it, and I am sad that I am the only one to have thought of it.

You weren't. That's where I went, too.

I guess it's just us then.

Although for the record, I love pickles of all sorts.

Some of it's whether or not said lady has mentioned possible child plans in her future. You know, like how your bridal shower would have been assumed by any eavesdropper to have been a baby shower, given the general topics of conversation :)

 [livejournal.com profile] dindin and I were the only two there who didn't either have children or [possible] plans for same within two years!

(You said something about maybe a year after the wedding)

That said, there's the myth surrounding pickles and [food, usually ice cream] and its relation to pregnancy. I don't get it either.

Absolutely. My favorite snack has to be, hands down, soft vanilla icecream with french fries.

Then there is breakfast sausages or bacon with maple syrup.

It's specifically pickles + sweet. Popcorn and M&Ms wouldn't have peaked my curiosity at all.

I like the salty/sweet combo, and I like the sour/sweet combo, and I like the salty/sour combo, but not all three. Pickles are sour AND salty, so I don't much like sweet stuff with them.

On the other hand, if I'm eating pretzels and chocolate, my period is likely imminent. I don't know what it'd be like if I were pregnant, since I never have been.

My favorite sweet & salty combo is ice cream and potato chips.

BTW, I'm joining the others confessing to have the same questions about the state of your uterus.

I'm pretty sure that Vlassic ran ads at one point that featured a pregnant character demanding that her hubby run out and buy Vlassic brand pickles for her.
